A directory
worth being in.
A note from Sam Arja, on why we built CaterConnect, who it is for, and the four promises behind every listing.
Catering directories online tend to be one of two things. Either a marketplace that takes a cut on every booking and pushes the cheapest quote to the top, or a list of vendors who paid to appear and were never vetted by anyone who knows the work. Neither serves the people doing the cooking, and neither serves the planners trying to find them.
We started CaterConnect because we sit in the middle of the catering business in a useful way. Plinths New York sells the display infrastructure that catering professionals actually use, week in and week out, at events the public sees on Instagram and never thinks about logistically. We see who shows up early, who returns equipment in good condition, who repeat-orders because the work is consistent. That data is a directory, if you write it down.
So we wrote it down.
What we promise caterers
The Featured listing is free. Forever. There is no upsell tier, no boost-for-pay placement, no commission on the work that comes through. We make our money selling display equipment to the catering industry. The directory exists because it makes that industry more visible, not because we charge rent on it.
Inquiries arrive in your inbox directly. We do not sit between you and the planner, we do not throttle messages, we do not notify you of "new leads available" through a paywall. The planner gets your email, you get theirs, the conversation is yours.
We hand-picked the first cohort. The caterers in the directory today are Plinths New York customers we trust, anchored by editorial features. As the directory grows, the entry standard stays the same. Quality of work over quantity of listings.
What we promise event planners
Every caterer here has been vouched for. Either by us, or by the body of work on their profile, which we review before publishing. There are no gold-tier algorithm games, no inflated star ratings purchased in batches, no fake testimonials translated from machine-generated copy.
You will see a real photograph, a real city, a real testimonial about the work. You will reach out directly. You will hear back from a person who actually does the cooking. If that produces fewer search results than the marketplaces, that is by design.
Who we are
CaterConnect is a project of Plinths New York. We design and manufacture display infrastructure for catering professionals: risers, plinths, chafing guards, modular trios, marble platters. The work has been used at hotels and event venues you have eaten at, by chefs you have read about. We have opinions about what makes a buffet line photograph well, and stronger opinions about what makes one survive 200 events without warping.
Sam Arja runs operations. Charles Lau runs creative direction. The directory is in its first edition, hand-built in spring 2026, and will get larger as the right caterers join. If you want to be one of them, write to us.
